In August 2020, San Antonio passed the Resolution Declaring Racism as a Public Health Crisis and to Establish Stronger Efforts to Promote Racial Equity in San Antonio. The resolution declared racism a public health crisis and committed to racial justice in policies, programs, and procedures. The resolution includes actionable steps for promoting racial equity such as staff presentations on progress, policy reviews, community engagement, improving equity data, advancing health equity, mitigating housing and job displacement, and providing equitable city services.
